Privacy Policy

The short version

GravelGeeks is a gravel cycling site with news, race results, routes, podcasts, a forum and a marketplace. We collect the email you give us for the newsletter, account details if you create an account, and the content you post. We use Base44 to host the site, store data and send email. You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data at any time. Nobody under 13 may use GravelGeeks.

What we collect

• Newsletter: your email address, whether you confirmed it, and the page you signed up from.
• Accounts: if you create an account, your name, email address and the profile details you choose to add.
• Your submissions: routes (including photos and route links), forum threads and replies, and marketplace listings (title, description, photos, price and any contact details you add).
• Technical data: basic server logs such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected by our hosting provider.

What is public

Routes, forum posts and marketplace listings are public. Anyone, including search engines and people who are not logged in, can read them. If you add a contact name, email or location to a marketplace listing, that information is shown publicly so buyers can reach you. Do not post anything you want to keep private.

How we use your information

• To send the newsletter you asked for, including one confirmation email and a one-click unsubscribe link in every email.
• To run your account and show the content you post.
• To review submissions, including automated moderation of route and other submissions, so spam and abuse stay off the site.
• To understand which pages and stories people read, so we publish more of what works.
• To answer your emails and fix problems.

Cookies and analytics

We use the analytics built into our hosting platform to count visits and see which pages are popular. Analytics data is aggregated and not used to identify you personally. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not run third-party advertising networks that track you across other websites.

Who we share it with

We use Base44 as our hosting, database, email delivery and AI platform. Base44 processes data on our behalf. Newsletter emails are delivered through the Base44 email service using our own domain.

AI moderation reviews submissions such as routes to check for spam and relevance. That review looks at the submission text and links, not at your account history.

We may share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of GravelGeeks and its readers. We never sell your email address.

Newsletter and unsubscribing

We use double opt-in: you are only added to the list after you click the confirmation link in our email. Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Unsubscribing stops newsletter emails immediately and keeps only the minimum record needed to honour that choice.

Your choices and deleting your data

You can ask us for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@gravelgeeks.com from the address you used and we will action the request, usually within [PLACEHOLDER: response time in days]. We may keep limited records where the law requires it, or where needed to resolve disputes.

Children

GravelGeeks is not intended for children. Nobody under 13 may create an account, subscribe or post content. If we learn that a child under 13 has given us personal information, we will delete it.

Keeping your information safe

Data is stored on secured platforms with access limited to the people who need it. No website can promise perfect security, so please use a strong, unique password and do not post personal information you would not want public.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site grows. The date at the top always shows the current version, and significant changes will be called out on the site.
